The House with Seven Mornings

Each door opened onto a different version of the same day, but only one led forward.

Original fiction · Dream Noir Guide

Arin woke to the same kettle whistle seven times, each in a room with a differently coloured door.

01

Days that almost fit

Behind the blue door he accepted the job he feared. Behind red he refused it. Green led to a city he had never visited, while gold returned him to childhood.

Every choice felt complete until evening, when the house reset and the kettle began again.

02

The unpainted door

On the seventh morning Arin noticed a narrow wooden door hidden behind the curtain. It showed no future—only his actual room, untidy and undecided.

A note on the floor read: Possibility becomes a prison when you demand certainty before living.

03

One ordinary choice

He stepped through without knowing which future would follow. The house vanished, leaving the kettle cold and his phone beside it.

Arin called the employer and asked three questions instead of demanding a perfect sign. The day did not become magical; it finally became his.

A decision does not need to reveal every future before it can be honest.
